EG4 inverters compared: output, solar input and idle draw
Every EG4 inverter in one table, straight from the datasheets, with one calculated column: how much solar each one accepts per watt of output.
One table for the whole inverter range, so you do not have to open seven PDFs. Every cell is a datasheet value; the column marked “calculated” is our arithmetic on two of them.
| Model | Continuous output | Battery | Solar input (recommended max) | MPPTs | Idle draw (worst listed) | Solar ÷ output (calculated) | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6000XP | 6 kW | 48 VDC | 10 kW | 2 | 50 W | 1.67× | 5-year standard warranty |
| 12000XP | 12 kW | 48 VDC | 28 kW | 2 | 70 W | 2.33× | 5-year standard warranty |
| 18kPV | 12 kW | 48 VDC | 21 kW | 3 | 70 W | 1.75× | 10-year standard warranty |
| 12kPV | 8 kW | 48 VDC | 15 kW | 2 | 55 W | 1.88× | 10-year standard warranty |
| FlexBOSS21 | 12 kW | 51.2 VDC | 21 kW | 3 | 65 W | 1.75× | 10 years |
| FlexBOSS18 | 10 kW | 51.2 VDC | 18 kW | 2 | 60 W | 1.80× | 10 years |
| 3000EHV-48 | 3 kW | 48 VDC | 5 kW | 1 | 70 W | 1.67× | 3 years |
How to read it
- Continuous output is the figure a house can lean on. Some datasheets give two: the 12000XP lists 12,000 W without solar (15,000 W only on model IV-15000-XP-IN-01), and the FlexBOSS models list a lower battery-only number than the with-PV one. The table uses the battery-only or without-PV figure, because that is what you have at night and in a storm.
- Idle draw is what the inverter uses just by being on. Where a sheet lists several figures we show the highest, so the result is not flattering. Multiply by 24 hours to see what it costs your battery each day.
- Solar ÷ output is the recommended maximum solar input divided by continuous output. A bigger number means the inverter is meant to be paired with a larger array relative to what it can deliver at once. It is arithmetic, not a rating.
- Battery voltage is shown as the datasheet prints it: 48 V on some, 51.2 V on others. Both are “48 V-class” batteries.
To turn these numbers into a decision, use the sizing helper, or read how to choose an inverter. Each row links to the model page with the full datasheet lines.
