Who they are

SanTan Solar is a seller of solar panels, kits, inverters, batteries and accessories. The site footer gives an address in Gilbert, Arizona, and its About page says the name comes from SanTan Mountain in the Phoenix area. The FAQ says the company sells new, used, refurbished, repaired and overstock panels, does not install them, and offers local pickup. BBB lists the business under the name SanTan Solar Services and records a start date of September 23, 2016.

Does it carry EG4?

Yes, on its own site. On October 2, 2026 the EG4 brand page showed 69 results, among them the EG4 6000XP inverter and the EG4 LL-S 48V 100AH battery. We opened the 6000XP product page, which lists the SKU EG4-6000XP and the brand as EG4. The brand page showed a note on the LL-S battery that it was on back order into 2027, and a back-order notice on an EG4 mini split, so check stock before you plan around a date. For specs, use the manufacturer figures on our EG4 pages rather than a reseller's summary.

What the company's own policies say

These come from SanTan's Terms and Conditions and FAQ as they read on October 2, 2026. Neither page carries a date, so read the current version before you order.

  • Returns. For purchases from the online store, you may return products "with the original package within 30 days if they are undamaged and unmodified." The terms add that acceptance for refund or exchange is not guaranteed if the item does not meet those requirements, and that returned orders "may be subject to a 30% restocking fee." SanTan pays return shipping for carrier damage, defective product, product inconsistent with the advertisement, incorrect product, or extra products you did not order; for other reasons the customer pays. Modified products are not accepted.
  • Cancellations. Orders can be canceled within 24 hours and before they are prepared for shipment or pickup, for a full refund minus non-refundable transaction fees. After the order is packed or staged, a 30 percent restocking fee applies and freight and handling fees are non-refundable. Shipped orders cannot be canceled. Custom kits and special orders cannot be canceled or refunded once confirmed.
  • Shipping. Accessories and 100W panels usually go by UPS Ground in 3-5 business days; panels over 100W go by freight. The FAQ gives a typical processing time of 7-10 business days for shipments, and says a residential delivery adds $50 and a liftgate another $50. The terms list further charges: remote or limited-access delivery from $50, and storage ($20 a day) or rerouting ($75-$300) fees when a delivery must be rescheduled or redirected. Shipments cannot be rerouted once sent.
  • Damage. Concealed damage and shortages must be reported within 3 days of delivery. The terms say "We will not be sending out replacements for panels damaged during shipping," and recommend buying extra panels; refunds for shipping errors or damage are handled through a ticket on the website.
  • Warranty. A one-year replacement-or-repair warranty on equipment sold, against manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship. Damage from faulty installation, improper procedures or electrical surges is excluded. Troubleshooting comes first, possibly with voltmeter readings, photos or videos. For products that "must be warrantied by the manufacturer," SanTan says it will contact the vendor to arrange replacement. The terms also say warranty claims on manufacturer-covered products must be handled directly with the manufacturer, and that SanTan does not cover diagnosis, removal or reinstallation labor if the manufacturer's warranty does not.
  • Payment. Payment must be received in full before shipping. A 3 percent service fee applies to credit card payments and is non-refundable; a direct bank transfer carries no fee. Orders over $10,000 must be paid by wire transfer or cashier's check. The terms say quotes are not guaranteed and a product is reserved only when payment is received.

Two of these deserve a second read if you are buying an inverter or battery: a restocking fee of up to 30 percent, and warranty routing that depends on whether the product is manufacturer-covered. Our buying guide lists the questions to settle before you pay.

What buyers say in public threads

These are individual posts on DIY Solar Forum. A forum is not a representative sample, so we do not count positives against negatives.

Praised

An August 2022 poster who picked up ten REC panels in person wrote: "Recommend this company based on my experience."

In the same thread another buyer described shipped, open-box panels as "Very well packed, no damage to the glass on any of them."

In April 2025 two forum members said they had always been able to reach the company by phone.

Complained about

In April 2025 a buyer wrote that his card was charged and he had "not heard back since 03/25/25." His later posts report calls going to voicemail, then a callback, then a delay, and in June 2025 that the charge controller had arrived on June 4.

In a November 2023 sale thread, buyers noted a 10-panel minimum for shipping, and one reported that a pallet would not be delivered to his residential address.

The April 2025 thread shows how one case can change. Other posters said they had no such problem, one suggested the company was busy with a surge of EG4 orders, and the original poster later posted that the order was completed. Another buyer in the thread described a similar delay, followed by contact and a shipping notice.

Questions to ask SanTan before you order

  • Is the exact EG4 model in stock now, and what ship date is on the invoice? The brand page itself carried back-order notices on some items.
  • If the unit is defective, does SanTan or EG4 handle the claim, and who pays for removal and reinstall labor?
  • For a freight order, what is the all-in quote (residential, liftgate, remote-area fees), and who unloads?
  • What is the restocking fee on this order if the equipment does not fit your plan, and does the 3 percent card fee come back?
  • Who is my contact after payment, and by which route will they answer? Several 2025 forum posts describe phone as the route that worked.

Good to know

SanTan sells a lot of used and refurbished panels, and its FAQ states that used panels carry no manufacturer's warranty, so the one-year company warranty is what applies to those. That does not describe EG4 equipment, but it is why the warranty section is worth reading line by line. Electrical work on an inverter or battery bank needs a licensed electrician and compliance with local code. To check the equipment itself, start from our EG4 overview and the system finder.

What we did not check

Google reviews, Yelp, Reddit, phone-support hours, the sale-price and stock status of any model beyond what the pages showed, and any BBB review text. Ratings and policies change: follow the links for today's versions.

Questions people ask

Does SanTan Solar sell EG4 equipment?

Yes. On October 2, 2026 the company's own site had an EG4 brand page showing 69 results, including the EG4 6000XP inverter and the EG4 LL-S 48V 100AH battery. Availability changes, and the LL-S listing carried a back-order notice that day.

What is SanTan Solar's return policy?

According to its terms of service on October 2, 2026: you may return products in the original package within 30 days if they are undamaged and unmodified, returned orders may carry a 30 percent restocking fee, and acceptance is not guaranteed. The company pays return shipping for carrier damage, defective or incorrect products; otherwise the customer does.

How does SanTan Solar ship large orders?

Its terms say panels larger than 100W ship by freight and that concealed damage must be reported within 3 days of delivery. Its FAQ says a residential delivery adds $50 and a liftgate adds another $50, and its terms say it will not send replacements for panels damaged in shipping.

Who handles a warranty claim on an EG4 product bought there?

SanTan's terms say it has a one-year repair-or-replace warranty on equipment it sells, and that claims on products covered by a manufacturer's warranty must be handled with the manufacturer. Ask before ordering which route applies to the exact model.

Does SanTan Solar charge extra for credit cards?

Yes, according to its terms: a 3 percent service fee on credit card payments, which it calls non-refundable even on cancellation. A direct bank transfer avoids the fee. Orders over $10,000 must be paid by wire transfer or cashier's check.
